Coachwhip is a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe, most notably as a member of the Serpent Society. She was created by Mark Gruenwald and Kieron Dwyer, and first appeared in Captain America #341 in May 1988.
[edit] Fictional character biography
Part of the second incarnation of the Serpent Society, Coachwhip infiltrated the group alongside Boomslang and Rock Python. She was a loyal servant of the villainous Viper, and plotted to overthrow Sidewinder so that Viper could lead the Society. But, Diamondback and Captain America foiled their plans and thwarted Coachwhip. When Viper fled the scene and left the rest of her teammates behind, Coachwhip began to serve under Cobra, after an initation test in which she battled the Falcon. Though her group eventually met defeat, Cobra allowed her and the other new recruits to stay with the Serpent Society. It was then that Coachwhip began a romantic relationship with Cobra.
Coachwhip uses a chain-linked whip that is able to generate electricity. She uses it to flay her victims, though she is not particularly skilled in battle. Her sensitive eyes force her to wear large, polarized sunglasses. She was the prosecutor in Diamondback's trial, and did a good job in convincing the other members of the Society that Diamondback was guilty of treason. She also once battled the Moon Knight with villains Killer Shrike and the Ringer. Coachwhip was most recently seen alongside her team when they kidnapped Captain America and Diamondback. It is presumed that she still works with the Serpent Society.
