Co-Exist are an extreme metal band from Glasgow, Scotland. They were formed in 1998 when local band Confusion Corporation split up. Their sound has been described as relentless, harsh, and violent, and they do not stick to one genre, mixing hardcore punk, thrash metal, death metal, crust punk, and grindcore, to name a few. Through many gigs over the years, Co-Exist have built a reputation for being one of the nastiest sounding live bands in Scotland and the name "Co-Exist" is well known throughout the UK's underground metal scene.[citation needed] They signed to Undergroove Records in early 2005, alongside bands like Charger, Black Eye Riot, and Johnny Truant. Their debut album, Surgical Removal of the Teeth, Toenails and Drilling of the Kneecaps, was released in July 2005.
