CMU 33 USAF Issue AirSave Survival Vest

CMU - 33A/P22P-18

The CMU – 33A/P22P-18 Vest is issued to the US Navy helicopter crews and aircrews of US forces non-ejector aircraft. This is the replacement for the CMU-24/P and SV-2 survival vests. It is also the updated version of the older types of CMU - 33s worn by squadrons such as the NAVAIR WD team (U.S. Marine ’Helo’ Squadron) back in the late 1990's.

The US Navy's fixed wing version is almost identical but has no harness and has 2 slotted cut aways for the KOCH fittings for the personal parachute harness. The navy version does not use the knife or pouch, the navy fixed wing version has a vertical radio pouch with J-hook knife pouch on the front of the vest the navy version will also sport a CRU-103 regulator pouch along with ejection seat connecting straps.

There are other versions of the CMU - 33 that are worn by Ejector Aircraft Naval Aviators such as 'Tomcat' fighter squadrons as recently as 2004 and 2005.
