cmuTV is the student-run television station at Carnegie Mellon University. Founded in 1999, cmuTV broadcasts on the University cable system on channel 17, and online via cmutv.org. In addition to producing its own original content, cmuTV also documents and provides video production support for events on the Carnegie Mellon campus. cmuTV works with the End System Multicast group to stream its broadcast online via a new type of peer-to-peer video distribution system. The organization places its focus on top notch equipment, people, and experience with professional quality gear. Also notable is the near infinite amount of latitude and creativity allowed in original content generation.
