The CM Lodestar® chain hoist, first produced in 1955, is a chain hoist used extensively in the entertainment industry. It is manufactured by the Columbus McKinnon Corporation based in Amherst, New York, and distributed around the world.

It is manufactured in various versions, capable of lifting up to 3 tons. The hoist is designed to run 'either way up' - it can be fixed to a load and climb its chain, or it can be fixed to a rigging point, in which case the chain moves up or down beneath it.
