Closing Time is the name of an episode of the MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-Head.
[edit] Synopsis
The episode begins with the two characters at home, trying to remember what they were supposed to be doing. Upon seeing an ad for Burger World, their place of work, they realize that they are supposed to be working the late shift until closing time.
At work, the two begin a series of abuses of the facility after the store closes, starting with deep-frying a can of live worms. They then proceed to play "Burger Tag", a game apparently consisting of throwing uncooked hamburger patties at each other, until Butt-Head accidentally throws the patty in question into a ceiling fan, creating a large mess. Inspired by this, both title characters grab large quantities of food and toss it into the fan, turning the restaurant into a disaster area. It is at this point that a health inspector enters, announcing his intentions to shut the facility down. He is persuaded, with the use of the fried worms (described as curly fries), to give a lenient judgment on the restaurant, but still orders all the food in the building unfit for sale. With this revelation, Beavis and Butt-Head proceed to declare a "Burger War", creating an even greater mess.
The following morning, the Burger World manager arrives to the chaos of his restaurant. Beavis and Butt-Head sneak out, taking the time to recommend the "curly fries" to their employer before leaving.
[edit] Notes
- This episode features the usage of closeups on the faces of Beavis and Butt-head in much the same manner as was used in the original pilot Frog Baseball and also in the episode Friday Night.
- The episode originally featured the two performing their own rendition of the Jeopardy! theme song as the health inspector counted the store's demerits; in later airings various notes of the theme were altered, perhaps to protect the show from charges of copyright infringement.
