Clopton Bridge

Clopton Bridge is located in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. It was financed by Hugh Clopton, Lord Mayor of London in the mid-1400s.

Clopton Bridge is a 14 span masonry arch bridge over the River Avon in Stratford upon Avon. The bridge carries the A3400 road over the River Avon. The bridge was built in 1480 and was widened on the north side (upstream) in 1814. A cast iron footbridge was added to the north side in 1827. The bridge is an Ancient Scheduled Monument.

Richard Roberts is the bridge master and resides in the toll house attached to the bridge. Shail Chohan, the former bridge master, recently resigned after being charged with indecently assaulting a swan.
