From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clive Coates is a Master of Wine[1], former publisher of The Vine Magazine[2] and author of several wine related books.

His most notable achievement, the book Côte d'Or, a celebration of the great wines of Burgundy, surveys most of the wine producing villages of Burgundy, France. It includes technical information about the vineyards of the Côte-d'Or, details about wine making techniques employed by hundreds of different producers and ratings of thousands of wines.

Clive Coates retired[3] early in 2005 due to poor health. He lives in Saint-Bonnet-de-Vieille-Vigne, France. He plans to spend the initial part of his retirement revising Côte d'Or.
