Clifton Pre-preparatory School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clifton Pre-preparatory School is a private school for 3 to 8 year olds in the English City of York. It was established over one hundred years ago as a ‘dame school’ and then developed and extended significantly by Miss Meaby in the 1950’s. In fact, it is still affectionately known by many people in York, particularly past pupils, as ‘Meaby’s’.

In 1994, Clifton became part of St Peter’s School, one of the oldest schools in the UK, which counts Guy Fawkes among its alumni.

In September 2001 the school moved to its present buildings on the St Peter’s School site. St Peter's now comprises three schools:

  • Clifton Pre-preparatory School (ages 3-8)
  • St. Olave's School (ages 8-13)
  • St. Peter's School (ages 13-18)
