Clifton High School (New Jersey)

Clifton High School is a four year public high school serving grades 9-12 for the city of Clifton in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Clifton Public Schools. With over 3,400 students enrolled at Clifton High School, it is the most overcrowded high school in New Jersey.[1]

In addition to serving as a standard four year public high school, Clifton High offers at least 17 different Advanced Placement Program (AP) courses. These courses include AP English Language and Composition, AP Studio Art, AP Art History, AP United States History, AP European History, AP Psychology, AP Spanish Language, AP French Language, Accounting, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science. A new course in Forensic Science is also available. The school has over 200 different courses available to their students.

Clifton High School competes in the Northern New Jersey Interscholastic League (NNJIL) an athletic conference of twenty high schools located in Bergen County and Passaic County. The NNJIL is separated into three divisions, according to the classification they are given from the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The Clifton Mustangs High School were the North I, Group IV Football State Champs 2006, defeating Eastside High School 26-0.[2]

Fall sports include Boys and Girls Cross Country, Football, Girls Volleyball, Girls Tennis, and Boys and Girls Soccer.

Winter Sports include Hockey, Gymnastics, Boy and Girls Indoor Track, Wrestling, Basketball, and Bowling.

Spring Sports include Baseball, Boys Volleyball, Boys and Girls Outdoor Track, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Boys Tennis, Softball, and Golf.

  • Clifton High School competes regionally in over 50 sport programs, including the marching band/alumni band [1].
  • Clifton High School has over 60 clubs, including clubs such as Conservation, Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS), Academic Decathalon, Knights of Pythagoras, Muslim, Fencing, Model Congress, Botany, Youth Alive, Wisdom and Knowledge, New Jersey Science League, Asian, Key, Ski, Anime, and Mock Trial.
