Clerk of the Parliaments

The Clerk of the Parliaments is the chief clerk of the House of Lords in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. His equivalent in the House of Commons is the Clerk of the House of Commons. During the ceremony of prorogation of Parliament the Clerk has the responsibility of communicating to the House of Commons, standing at the Bar of the Chamber, the Royal Assent to the various Acts named by the Clerk of the Crown. He is appointed by The Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister.
