"Clean Up Before She Comes" is a song by Kurt Cobain, lead singer and guitarist of the American rock band Nirvana. It is survived by only one known version: a solo electric 4-track recording from 1987 or 1988. This version appears on the 2004 Nirvana box set, With the Lights Out, and on their 2005 compilation album, Sliver - The Best of the Box.

[edit] Meaning and Structure
"Clean Up Before She Comes" may have been written about Cobain's girlfriend of the time, Tracy Marander. The couple shared an apartment in the late 1980s, and according to the Cobain biography Heavier Than Heaven by Charles R. Cross, Marander would often leave notes for Cobain asking him to help clean up (which he rarely did). The better-known "About a Girl" was also written about Marander. The song has a catchy rhythm and mainly humerous lyrics. The chorus seems to have 3 layered voices singing at the same time.
[edit] Other versions?
"Clean Up Before She Comes" was seemingly abandoned after 1988. It had long been rumoured that a version was recorded in 1994, during an infamous session in Cobain's basement with Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear and Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson.
