Claudio Grossman, dean of AU’s Washington College of Law and Raymond I. Geraldson Scholar for International and Humanitarian Law, is an expert on international law, human rights, and Inter-American affairs. Grossman currently serves as vice chairman of the United Nations Committee Against Torture, and as president of the College of the Americas, an organization of colleges and universities in the Western Hemisphere. He is also a member of the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files. Previously, Grossman has served as the observer for the Organization of American States (OAS) in the case of the 1994 bombing of the Jewish Community Center (AMIA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and as the special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous populations and as the special rapporteur on women's rights, both for the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS, for which he previously twice served as president. He has participated in numerous on-site visits and election-observing missions in Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. He also has worked on international legal issues with the United Nations and the International Human Rights Law Group. Grossman is fluent in Spanish, French, and Dutch. He is the author of numerous books and articles on international law, human rights, and the law of international organizations.
