Clay Stapleton

Clay Stapleton was the head football coach of Iowa State from 1958 to 1967. During his tenure, he compiled a 42-53-4 record. He was known for his T Formation offense, and notorious for punting on third down. He also served as Iowa State's athletic director following his coaching stint.
On September 9th, 2006 Stapleton was inducted into the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame with fellow alumni Beth Bader, Jon Brown, John Crawford, Barry Hill, Russ Hoffman, Jerry McNertney, Hugo Otopalik, Keith Sims, Winnifred Tilden.
