Clark County School District Police Department

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clark County School District Police Department is the part of the Clark County School District that is responsible for law enforcement on all of the district campuses. While sworn officers, the department members only handle calls on these campuses and will usually turn over investigations of serious crimes to other agencies like the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The head of the department is the Chief of School Police, currently held by Hector Garcia.

As of June 2006, the department employed over 165 law enforcement officers. The schools patrolled are located across Clark County, Nevada, which is larger in area then the state of New Jersey.

[edit] History

The department was formed in 1967 but it was not until 1971 that the state legislature granted the officers in the department status as police officers.
