Claris Homepage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Claris Homepage was one of the earliest true what-you-see-is-what-you-get HTML editors. Purchased from a 3rd party, Claris re-worked it to feature their corporate user interface and released it about 1995.
Homepage supported all of the features common in HTML at the time, and was notable for its excellent table editor. Even new users could create reasonable looking pages and upload them to their web server with a minimum of effort. The program did not include any sort of template system however, nor a system for creating menus or rollovers. The program also "featured" a number of annoying bugs and display problems, which Claris never fixed. The program appears to have been largely ignored, and eventually disappeared around 1997 to 2000. Nevertheless "Homepage" was one of the best editors for internetsites you could get to create basic HTML-pages.
