Clarendon Cross

Clarendon Cross is a popular secluded shopping street in London's Notting Hill.
Clarendon Cross is home to a selection of specialist independent retailers, and boutiques. Holland Park is a short walk from Clarendon Cross which lies 15 minutes to the South East.
There are many popular shopping destinations located around Clarendon Cross such as Westbourne Grove, Portobello Market, Ledbury Road, Holland Park Avenue, High Street Kensington, and Notting Hill.
Holland Park Post Office, on Clarendon Cross finally closed in 2005. However, the letterbox still remains outside the converted shop.

The development of Clarendon Cross began in the 1870s.
One end at Clarendon Road and the other at Portland Road, the intersection of both of these roads led to the naming of the street, Clarendon Cross
According to Charles Booth's poverty map c.1898-99, the road was classified as 'fairly comfortable, with good ordinary earnings'. Clarendon Cross has always been a mixed commercial and residential area. However the business types have changed radically over the past 100 years.
