Clare Tyler was a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. She was played by Gemma Bissix.
[edit] History
She was the daughter of Debbie Tyler who arrived in Walford in 1993 when Debbie moved in with her new love interest Nigel Bates. Her father Liam Tyler also followed them to Walford and tried everything possible to break Nigel and Debbie apart. Despite problems, Debbie went on to marry Nigel in 1994 and Clare was happy with them for quite a while.
Their happiness was tragically cut short when Debbie died in a hit-and-run accident in 1995. After Debbie's death, Liam returned, wanting to gain custody of Clare, but Nigel wanted to adopt her as his own daughter. Nigel eventually won custody and Clare stayed with him.
In 1997, Clare fell for Josh Saunders who went to school with her and was also the son of her teacher Julie Hay. Clare was good friends with Sonia Jackson, but started socialising with a bad crowd, and started bullying Sonia. This lead Nigel to be called in to meet Clare's teacher, Julie. In turn, Nigel fell in love with Julie.
When Julie got a job in Scotland, Nigel and Clare decided to join her and Josh. They left Walford for Scotland in 1998.
