The ClaraNET network

Claranet, also known as ClaraNet and Clara.Net, is a pan-European internet service provider (ISP).

It was founded in October 1996 by its CEO Charles Nasser. ClaraNet has offices in locations including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin and Barcelona. It provides internet services to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.

Until 2002, ClaraNet was largely a home-user "tenner a month" supplier, but that all changed with the appointments of Steve Rawlinson as MD and Nick Sellors as Sales Director. From April 2002 (when Sellors joined), the UK operation quadrupled its revenues (mainly from B2B sales, led by Sellors) until both people left in the second half of 2006, with Nasser re-taking the position of UK MD in addition to his group CEO role.

Sellors was succeeded by his protegé and Channel Sales Manager, Andrew Cooper, in an interim role.

In early 2007, CTO Neil Levine, announced his intention to leave the group to study for a masters degree in Political Science in New York.

ClaraNet has grown its business through a number of acquisitions, including Netscalibur in 2003,[1] via net.works uk in 2004[2] and in 2005, Amen Group, via net.works Europe and Artful.[3]
