Clan Tag

A clan tag is a common internet term use to denote the prefix or suffix that internet multiplayer gamers use to associate themselves with a computer or video game clan. Tags are often enclosed in brackets or symbols and colored differently if the game allows it. For example, in a name like "[ABC]Smith", "[ABC]" is the clan tag and "Smith" is the player's name. A large number of multiplayer games support the use of clan tags. For example, Age of Empires III features integrated clan support where a clan's tag will automatically appear before a player's username.
