Clan Fire Mandrill

Clan Fire Mandrill is a member of the Clanners in the sci-fi BattleTech universe created by the FASA Corporation.
[edit] Founding and Early History
The Clan's totem is the fire mandrill, named for its fire red coat and known for its aggressiveness and loyalty. The Fire Mandrills are a microcosm of the Clans as a whole, with many different factions, known as Kindraa, each with its own beliefs and culture. To the Fire Mandrills, the Kindraa is everything. They are self-sufficient entities, with almost a Galaxy of troops each. The rulers of each Kindraa have powers and status akin to that of Clan Khans. Since the very beginning of the Clan, it has fought amongst itself.
This infighting reached a boiling point when Kindraa Sianze claimed Widowmaker holdings as their own. The other Fire Mandrill Kindraas knew the importance of these holdings and allied with different Clans to gain control. This went on for many years with each Kindraa vying for more power.
In an attempt to strengthen itself, Kindraa Smythe-Jewell tried to use Kindraa Payne as a pawn in an attack on Clan Hell's Horses. This resulted in the Hell's Horses, along with Clan Coyote crushing the Smythe-Jewell faction.
[edit] Operation Revival and Beyond
The Clan pursued a position in the invasion force of the Inner Sphere, but because of the Kindraa rivalries, they fought over who should represent the Clan as a whole. These battles destroyed the Clan and left them weak for the Trial that would secure them a spot.
Further, Clan Fire Mandrill has lost a large swath of territory to Clan Ice Hellion and Clan Burrock. And during the Great Refusal, the Clan was crushed by the Capellan Confederation's Red Lancers.
Because of these series of defeats, the Clan as a whole has realized they must begin to work together if they are to continue to survive in Clan space. They are steadily regaining territory lost to the Ice Hellions and Burrocks, and solidifying their power.
