Claire Simms, played by Constance Zimmer, is a lawyer on the ABC dramedy Boston Legal.
[edit] Background
She first appears with Jeffrey Coho (Craig Bierko) in the second episode of Season 3, "New Kids on the Block", as transfers to Crane, Poole, and Schmidt, Boston firm. Although Claire was only meant to star in the show for season 3, she joined the regular cast in the eighth episode of Season 3, "Lincoln."
Simms is an enigmatic woman. She finds most of the men at Crane, Poole, and Schmidt "icky", but she flirted with Dr. Zachary Simon (Curtis Armstrong) in the Scott Little case during a multi-episode arc, in which Little is on trial for murder.
She finds Denny Crane repulsive, having been groped by him seconds after she arrived at Crane, Poole, and Schmidt (after which she said, "Jeffrey, the gross man is fondling me."). She took the transfer from the New York office with Coho against her better judgment. Despite her abrasive behavior and penchant for the word "ick" and her common phrase "Okay, ick and double ick" to display her displeasure, she showed a soft side when cross-examining a cross-dressing man, Clarence Bell (Gary Anthony Williams) in a discrimination case. Clarence is now her boyfriend. He used to be her secretary, but after they became "exclusive", Clarence asked to be reassigned and is now Alan Shore's secretary.
Claire also has the habit of wearing a New York Yankees hat around the city of Boston.
