Claire Elizabeth Smith was Miss United Kingdom in 1992. She went on to the Miss World pageant in South Africa, but lost by one point to Miss Russia. A subsequent television documentary called 'Whicker's Miss World' revealed that none of the judges understood why Claire was not crowned Miss World. Most of them, including Joan Collins, said that they had all voted for Miss UK to become Miss World[citation needed].
