Claire City is a town in Roberts County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 85 at the 2000 census.

Claire City is located at 45°51′27″N, 97°6′10″W (45.857403, -97.102739)^GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²), all land.

Claire City has been assigned the ZIP code 57224 and the FIPS place code 12020.

As of the census^GR2 of 2000, there were 85 people, 37 households, and 28 families residing in the town. The population density was 182.3/km² (465.6/mi²). There were 42 housing units at an average density of 90.1/km² (230.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 88.24% White and 11.76% Native American.

There were 37 households out of which 35.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.64.

In the town the population was spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 35.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 88.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $35,156, and the median income for a family was $29,375. Males had a median income of $35,556 versus $11,875 for females. The per capita income for the town was $17,074. There were 8.0% of families and 4.9% of the population living below the poverty line, including 11.8% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
