CKRS (AM)

CKRS is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Saguenay, Quebec.
Owned and operated by Corus Entertainment, it broadcasts on 590 kHz with a daytime power of 25,000 watts and a nighttime power of 5,000 watts as a class B station, using a directional antenna with slightly different daytime and nighttime directional patterns in order to protect various other stations on that frequency.
The station has a news/talk format and is part of the Corus Québec (formerly Radiomédia) network which operates across Quebec. CKRS went on the air on June 24, 1947.
On November 24, it was announced that CKRS will air on the FM band, on the frequency 98.3 starting in the spring of 2007. No simulcast period has been requested. The AM signal will be shut off when the FM is turned on.
