CJ De Mooi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Connagh-Joseph de Mooi is currently a professional quizzer and a team member on the BBC show Eggheads. This has caused controversy amongst some people who see CJ as the weakest Egghead, and not being very knowledgeable. Despite this, CJ is often seen as being good-natured towards this (perhaps unfair) reputation, often saying things such as "The streak continues!" He specifically acknowledges fellow Egghead Daphne Fowler as a friend on his website.
He studied English and Performance Arts at university before embarking upon a modelling career in Germany which lasted five years.
In 2000, he applied to several game and quiz shows as a contestant and stood out for being young, reasonably knowledgeable and outspoken (his tirade when voted off The Weakest Link has been featured on the show's website, video and led to a Bad Losers' show which he won). He has also appeared on numerous other quiz shows, including Fifteen to One, Countdown, Beat the Nation and No Win, No Fee.
In 2003, 12 Yard Productions invited him to take part in the new show Eggheads, which has completed six series to date.
De Mooi also used to be a competitive chess player and has been Mensa chess champion, perhaps disproving the theory that he is not as intelligent as an Egghead should be.
He is a vegetarian and a teetotaller.
