City of London Sinfonia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The City of London Sinfonia is a chamber orchestra which was founded in 1971 by Richard Hickox, who is still its music director. It has a little over forty members, which is roughly half the size of a full symphony orchestra.
In London it performs regularly at the Barbican Arts Centre and St Paul's Cathedral and is resident orchestra at Opera Holland Park. It also has annual residencies in four towns in Southern England: Ipswich, King's Lynn, High Wycombe and Chatham. It records regularly and makes an overseas tour every year.
