[edit] History
Brimbank was founded on 15 December 1994 during the forced amalgamations of local councils by the Kennett Liberal government, being formed out of the former cities of Keilor and Sunshine. It was named after Brimbank Park in Keilor, which itself was named for the practice of local farmers driving livestock "around the brim of the bank" of the Maribyrnong River.
