City of Bits

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

City of Bits by William J. Mitchell is a book about the effect of computer networks on society.

The text was published simultaneously online and in print in 1996. It can be considered a landmark for electronic books that support the sharing of annotations and reviews. The online version of the book has a dedicated forum, the "agora", from the Greek word for a marketplace, in which annotations to sections of the book can be placed and communicated to others.
