isn't this a misnomer considering there aren't any cities plural? and honolulu the city, in coloquial terms, isn't even really a city itself.

It follows the standard naming convention for such categories, i.e. Cities in State. Such naming conventions are useful even in cases where the singular/plural aspect is not strictly correct. -- Rick Block (talk) 02:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
