Cirrimaxilla formosa is a species of saltwater eels, the only member of the genus Cirrimaxilla of the Muraenidae (Moray eel) family. It is found only in Ping-tung County, Taiwan. The holotype, a female, is 166 mm long.
Cirrimaxilla formosa has a very stout body, muscular, elliptical anteriorly, and somewhat compressed posteriorly. The dorsal and anal fins are restricted to the tail end, confluent with the caudal fin. The mouth is large, with the lower jaw protruding and slightly curved upward, and the snout is pointed. The jaws have beard-like cirri.
The holotype was collected from a tidal pool.
