Circuit (film character)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sarkeshwar aka Circuit is a character from the popular Bollywood series of films directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vinod Chopra Productions: Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and a third film still in production and tentatively titled Munna Bhai Chale Amerika.[1][2]
The character, portrayed by Arshad Warsi, is the assistant to Munna Bhai— a bhai or a Tapori - a leader in the Mumbai underworld. The films are comedies which lack realistic scenes of violence. Munna Bhai and Circuit speak in Bambaiya Hindi -the colloquial Hindi language of Mumbai.
Rather than following the traditional sequel format, each film features the central characters, Munna Bhai and Circuit, in a story which is comprehensive unto itself and is not continued or referred to in another film in the series. Indeed, director Rajkumar Hirani has compared this format to the films of Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, as well as to the James Bond series.[3] Others have also likened the series to the work of Laurel and Hardy.[4] Some, however, have negated this comparison, stating that the series is more akin to the Road to... "buddy films" of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby.[5]
