[edit] History

DJ and producer Matt Kent, best known as Karmil, was recruited by famous producer Cameron McVey (Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Neneh Cherry...) as a record engineer assistant. They began to work on their own material at Karmil's home studio, in London. McVey was singing, and he chose a new nickname : Burt Ford. Karmil's girlfriend, Lolita Moon, was asked to sing on some tracks. Eventually, McVey's wife, Neneh Cherry, joined the team and performed rapped/sung vocals. McVey and Karmil convinced Cherry to move to Sweden and settle in McVey-Cherry's country house near Malmö. They are currently based in Stockholm.

In 2006 they released their debut album laylow.

  • Karmil declared he wanted to run away from London to cure his addiction to marijuana, which he was using as a self-medication.
