Talk:Cimitero Monumentale di Milano

[edit] Giuseppe Verdi
Verdi is not buried in the Cimitero monumentale.... his tomb is in the Casa di riposo per musicisti (Retirement house for musicians) in Milan, non very far from the Cimitero monumentale (3 km?). The Casa Verdi, as it is called, was founded by him and Giuseppina Strepponi, his wife, and is still operating. It is actually a tourist attraction, because of the tomb of Verdi, and because some of the guests still give recitals, generally of very good level.--UbUb 21:01, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Which Holocaust monument(s)?
I'm seeking further information as to whether this cemetery is or was the location of a particular monument to victims of Nazi German camps. Known features:
- Planned by the architecture firm Belgiojoso, Peressutti and Rogers (now BBPR), installed 1946
- The structure is an openwork cross with arms of equal length made of iron piping with black and white marble panels, poised on a cross-shaped base
- The center has an urn containing earth from camps in Germany
Photographs show the above monument in the middle of a circular grass lawn, so this doesn't necessarily match the Italian Wikipedia article's description of a Holocaust monument in (i.e. inside?) the Palanti Chapel. Any additional details would be helpful. -- Grazie, Deborahjay 11:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
