Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Well-Made Play, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently-created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Relic -> The Relic

Cigarette, I see you moved the article at Relic to The Relic. I'm sure your intentions were good, however what you did has caused a bit of a problem. First off, it looks like you moved the page simply by copying the text of the article and slapping it in the new article, The Relic. While this is technically the correct title of the novel, the move, as you did it, is now missing all of its edit history, which is significant. The correct way to move an article is to use the "Move this page" link. Using that facility moves an article preserving its edit history.

Second, you moved the article, but didn't change any text to reflect the new location of the article (i.e. you didn't change Relic to The Relic). While you aren't required to do this, due diligence usually includes making such edits. In addition, by not making such edits, you broke the link to the movie's article.

Now since you created The Relic, I can't move Relic the correct way with the "Move this page" facility (regular users can only move articles to new names, not existing ones). I now have to ask an administrator to move the page for me. If I remember, I'll then go and do the "due diligence" edits to the article (sometimes the administrators who move the articles do it, though). So please don't make anymore edits to The Relic until I can get an administrator to move the article correctly.

Like I said, I think your intentions were good, but next time you move an article, please do it with the "Move this page" facility. Frecklefoot | Talk 19:46, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
