[edit] Freedom in the World

Why did you move this? I split it off some time ago because it was too large (and deserved it's own page). What happens to it when the Freedom House rankings come out for 2007?--Thomas.macmillan 15:12, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree that each year should have it's own page. How come you moved the 2006 version to the main page?--Thomas.macmillan 05:00, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] list of free trade agreements

Thanks for your revisions to this page. Good work. Btw, I fixed the link to Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement. Naerhu 04:27, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NO MIENTAS POR FAVOR

[edit] Re:President

Well, he was the 30th president of Chile, and that's a fact. I think it's fine as it is, but I'll bring it up at T:ITNT anyway. Thanks. Nishkid64 22:54, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I think if we change it to de facto, it will look like we're taking sides. How about I change it to head of state? Nishkid64 02:25, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
And stop trying to insert POV into this. We're neutral on ITN, so there's no political affiliations written there. I know it said President months before you came to Wikipedia, and it just recently changed to "de facto head of state". Nishkid64 02:27, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
We've received no complaints about "President", so I don't think changing it to "head of state" is necessary. Nishkid64 02:27, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Read Aecis' comment: Please keep in mind that WP:ITN, perhaps more than other parts of wikipedia, has to respect the neutral point of view. There's also no space on ITN to deal with all the nuances, sources, references etc. as to what constitutes a dictatorship, which definitions are used for a dictatorship, why Pinochet meets those criteria, etc. What we can say for sure is that Pinochet held the office of the presidency of Chile. Whether his policies constituted a dictatorship is not for ITN. I mean, if we were to add de facto head of state, we would have to add a reference for that. One problem. This is ITN, not an article, so references don't work. We have to keep it as neutral as possible. Also, Cielo, I understand what you're trying to say. I was the person who originally changed it to "dictatorial president", but then Aecis said that would need to be referenced. See President of Chile. He was first the chairman of the government junta, then supreme chief, then president. Nishkid64 02:42, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
However, I'm thinking of changing it to "head of state". Would that be okay with you? I'm going to leave "de facto" out for now. Nishkid64 02:42, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I justed wanted to congratulate you for managing change the world president on the main page. Thanks on behalf of all non-pinochetista chileans! --Thor Waldsen 16:17, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hussein Current Events tag

The article's current event tag has been removed because Saddam is deceased. A current event tag remains in the Execution section. Please see the discusssion on the talk page before re-adding the "Current Events" tag to the whole article. Zelmerszoetrop 08:00, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Saddam exec 3.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Saddam exec 3.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 203.109.209.49 10:10, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Saddam exec 0.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Saddam exec 0.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 203.109.209.49 10:12, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chilean edits

Hello, CieloEstrellado, since you have made several edits to articles about Chile, you may be interested in looking at the Wikipedia:Chile-related regional notice board to pick up on other topics that need attention, or to express needs which you perceive pertaining to Chile. JAXHERE | Talk 01:28, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] comunas of chile

This article already exists at municipalities of Chile. Sorry. ☆ CieloEstrellado 03:51, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

If you would go to that page and read it you'd see that a comuna is not the same as a municipality even though many people think it is. Besides the list you have isn't complete , this one is. --JAXHERE | Talk 12:20, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Hi StarrySky! You may want to see this entry [[1]] where I present the rationale for the use of the term municipality (municipio), as a synonym of comuna in Chile. Cheers! -- Eguirald 01:15, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] move of Estacion Central

You have moved a page in contravention to the Chilean settlement naming convention which establishes that all articles about settlements in Chile are named as "Settlement, Chile".

Please be more careful in making changes, Check out the page's history and talk pages to see if there may have been any previous actions which make your planned action undesirable. If there is any kind of major change involved, best to discuss it first. --JAXHERE | Talk 15:08, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

There is no reason to move Estación Central to Estación Central, Chile, as there was no article at Estación Central. I've never seen such policy about moving all Chilean cities to Settlement, Chile. If there is, please link me to it, because I find it absurd. ☆ CieloEstrellado 22:26, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
If you'd check the history of Estación Central you'll see that the page was moved by an administrator to Estación Central, Chile to conform with the chilean naming standard because it was the ONLY exception in all of the Chilean settlements. Why do you find it absurd that there be a standard way of naming? I find your assertion difficult to understand. The convention is listed at: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (settlements)#Chile which was also linked to in the History of the article on La Serena, Chile which you've also redirected.
I don't know what your intentions are, but after I'd already drawn your attention to a problem over the move of the Estacion Central article you proceeded to do the same thing with La Serena. This seems that you are trying to provoke some kind of conflict. If this is not the case, I'd suggest that you start discussing your edits which may cause undoing of previous editor's work. If you can correct errors and improve things DO IT but be careful when you are deleting or undoing something. JAXHERE | Talk 14:07, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] World No. 1 Tennis Player Rankings changed to World number one male tennis player rankings

Why not change the article name but think about changing all the links. Thank you.

Carlo Colussi 14:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bachelet

The Domestic policy information added regarding 29 January was removed by you, with an explanation that it isn't relevant. Please further explain, since this decree, which was officially signed, is generating quite a bit of news there, and is therefore quite relevant. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hypotheticalmike (talkcontribs) 02:08, 2 February 2007 (UTC).

Ok, maybe it is too detailed, but it is still relevant. It should have been trimmed down, not removed entirely, since it is a major issue.

Hypotheticalmike

[edit] Changes to comuna

I've noticed that you changed the article about comunas to remove a description which is unique to Chile. If you don't believe that description, please click on the link in the article and you can read the Chilean constitution for yourself. I've put that information back in. If you can improve on the translation, please do so, but don't remove valid material from an article unless you have evidence that the material is incorrect or the source is not valid.

If you believe that the material is not appropriate to that article, start a discussion on that article's talk page and we can hash it out there ... after all this article is not only between the two of us.

Judging from the date of this change it might seem that you were attempting to battle with me over the issue of municipalities vs. comunas. Please be aware that I'm prepared to discuss any differences we might have and if you can provide evidence that supports your views, I may even accept them, but if you simply change things I've done to retaliate that makes it seem that you're just trying to get even.

Just so you know that I don't object to every thing you do, I'd like to note that I agree totally with your interpretation of municipalidad as the governing body, not the people or the territory. I added the Chilean case of governing comunas because in other countries the territories which municipalidades run are often called different things.--JAXHERE | Talk 15:21, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Andijan massacre

Hi CieloEstrellado. I see that you have previously contributed the Andijan massacre article. There is currently a major discussion concerning the title move to "civil unrest" and other pertinent points within the article. Please feel free to contribute if you have time. Thanks! Djma12 14:11, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Page moves without consensus

Cielo, you voiced concern to the established Chile city naming convention two months ago at Wikipedia talk:Chile-related regional notice board which was answered. You did not respond further until yesterday, when you appear to have embarked a page renaming spree against that convention without warning or discussion. Please desist from renaming these pages and discuss the naming convention if you wish to propose a change. The current convention was reached by a consensus of interested editors at the time, and any change to it should be made the same way. If you wish to open a discussion, I suggest it be held at Wikipedia talk:Chile-related regional notice board but please also post a notice of the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (settlements). --Scott Davis Talk 22:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Assume good intentions

Cielo, one of the principal guidelines of Wikipedia is to assume good intentions when we look at the edits of other users.

With this in mind, I have been asking myself, why would a nice guy (assuming you are a nice guy), do things which have been interpreted to be disruptive by other people, which I see evidenced by earlier messages and edits which you've done.

My conclusion is that you might be a Chilean who knows considerable English but has not lived or worked in a native-English environment long enough to learn what are the customs and concepts which a native English speaker takes for granted. After living many years in Chile, I've learned that there are many things which are done differently in Chile than in non-latin countries. You might not be aware of these. Since Wikipedia is an English publication which is aimed at satisfying the needs of English speaking readers, and prepared by mostly English speaking editors, you might want to learn what some of these differences are so that you might function more effectively here.

If you have found yourself wondering why people are attacking or criticising your actions here in Wikipedia and would like see if you can change that, please respond here (on your page) and I'd be happy to see if I can help you get better orientated. --JAXHERE | Talk 16:03, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
