Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was a spelling variant of the name of the church led by Joseph Smith, Jr.. In the last years prior to Smith's death, the spelling of the name of Smith's church was most commonly rendered either the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The un-hyphenated form was used consistently in the official church periodical Times and Seasons edited by Smith. The Wentworth letter as reported in Times and Seasons renders it the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The church organized by Brigham Young in 1847 as a continuation of Smith's church renders its name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
