Chuck de Caro

Chuck De Caro is a former member of the US 20th Special Forces Group.[citation needed] After leaving the army he followed varied career paths, serving as a CNN special assignment correspondent working in combat situations, in Nicaragua, Grenada, and Surinam, as well as investigative reporting on illegal drug operations, foreign espionage and criminal gangs.[citation needed] Chuck also became a technical advisor to three TV magazines: Hard Copy, Sitings, and Encounters, as well as three TV dramas: Magnum, Quantum Leap, and JAG. Most recently he founded and became the chief-executive of Aerobureau Corporation, where he and his staff have designed, built, and operate the world's first flying news center.[citation needed]

The role of Aerobureau, supplements the work which Chuck now does as a consultant for governments and organisations as well as lecturing at universities around the world. This work looks at the use of media and marketing in warfare. Chuck coined the term softwar to describe the use of propoganda and media in order to gain tactical advantage over the enemy. His later work brought him more to prominence as he translated these theories into the ongoing conflict with Al Qaeda and the need for the US government to look more at winning the "soft" war through changing opinion in the muslim world. This is in contrast to Al Qaeda which spends a large amount of time creating high profile propoganda videos which receive wide coverage in the west.

Mr De Caro's no nonsense, shoot from the hip style[citation needed] and rugged, masculine looks[citation needed] led to the best desciption of him when being introduced as a speaker at the Centre on Law, Ethics and National Security. The Chairman described him as "somebody I'd normally read about, an entrepreneur, an adventurer that I'd read about in a novel somewhere". [1]
