Hello. I noticed you have been adding a number of external links to different sites all operated by the same company (and sharing the same web design). I should like to point you at our external links policy, in case you were not already aware of it. Are you at all affiliated with the company in question? Morwen - Talk

[edit] All those links to PtS Content Network sites that you're adding -- they're a problem

Another editor left you a nice note in October referring you to our External Links Guideline. It looks like perhaps you didn't read it, since I see you added another pts.com-affiliated link in November.

You've added some useful content -- that's great, but, please do not add these links! Take a look at these Wikipedia policies and Guidelines:

Also check out:

  • Spam Blacklist -- our openly published, global list of domains that have persistently spammed Wikipedia, alternate language Wikipedia versions and/or sister Wikimedia projects (Wiktionary, etc.). I should hasten to add that PtS is not to that point but blacklisting is the inevitable outcome for companies that don't honor our requests.

[edit] PtS Content Network sites with links in Wikipedia articles

Please do not add any more links to any of these 10+ PtS Content Network sites you've already linked to:

[edit] Other PtS Content Network sites

... or to any of these 60 or so other sites affiliated with pts.com:

[edit] PtS Holdings corporate sites

PtS corporate sites:

[edit] Additional November 2006 linking by 82.19.71.53

I also noticed that after the note left above on 26 October 2006, an anonymous IP address 82.19.71.53 (talk contribs) began adding links to these sites:

That IP address is registered to an NTL customer in England. The account's edits were confined to adding links to these sites -- no other contributions to Wikipedia were made.

[edit] GlobalVillageIdiot.net

For the record, there was one PtS Content Network site with much better content edited by a notable music critic, Chris Nickson (hmmm, coincidence?), GlobalVillageIdiot.net, with 12 links, all of them added over the last two years by various experienced Wikipedia editors who valued the content:

I would say this one, much better site likely meets the external links guideline, depending on the context. (Other spam cleanup volunteers may disagree). Any links to this site, however, should only be made by third party editors unaffiliated with PtS.

Finally, please spread the word among your PtS colleagues that spamming Wikipedia bad for us and, in the long term, bad for PtS and its reputation. Folks will get stirred up, the links will still get removed, and everybody's time will be wasted on both sides.

Thanks!
