Snoop Dogg

Hey, it's Temp. I just wanted to let you know that I did not intend to use popups on the Snoop Dogg article, in fact, I don't even know what they are. No negativity intended, I just wanted to let you know I had no bad intentions. Anyway, I'm new, and I have a feeling I misunderstood you probably.  :) Temp 01:01, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, sorry about the confusion. Now I see what happened, reverted back to the edits of Temp. But yeah, I will probably need some help later on in the future, and you'll probably be someone I go to. And anyway, looking forward to working with you in the future. Thanks, man.  :) Temp 01:22, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

random acts of kindness

I am so proud that my boyfriend received the "Random Acts of Kindness" Award! Thanks for your help. I am researching my town of Cazenovia: A Historical background article as we speak. It seems there is one out there but it is not very indepth. Can I just add stuff to it? Kbrackett 00:32, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

128.12.55.103

I already have an account, I just didn't want to use it for vandalism. :) I was going to revert the change I made right after I made it, I just wanted to be able to link to a historical copy for comical purposes. Yeah, I know, friends don't let friends vandalize Wikipedia. I figured I'd make up the loss in karma by fixing up your user page a little. Thanks for the kind welcome. 128.12.55.103 07:03, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Awesome!

[1] I just love your warning :). Keep up the good vandal fighting. Alphachimp 15:19, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

same, I am soo going to use it too :D Perhaps you should consider substing it though, that way vandals can't destroy it if they know how Wikipedia works. Thanks for the barnstar by the way ;) Nice work on these nasty kids too! -- lucasbfr talk 18:00, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Richard Land

Was there a reason for deleting that quote? Religious leaders don't tell people to shut up often in public, making that a fairly significant quote. Tim Long 23:32, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Answered on users talk page. Regarding ip edit with no edit summary. Re-Reverted faulty revert.

Thanks for the barnstar! I didn't even notice it until now because it was at the bottom of my page. Have a nice day! -FateSmiled&DestinyLaughed 14:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Thanks

WR templates? --Guinnog 15:38, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Aha! Yes, I see what you mean now. There has been discussion (for example on AN/I) recently about this issue. I think there is a feeling that forcing users (who may use a shared IP) to carry the warnings like a badge of shame for long periods is counterproductive. I certainly have observed cases where warnings which were given in questionable circumstances have then led to more conflict. The assumption now seems to be that if a warning has been given, read and removed, it will still be in the history. Removing warnings is still frowned upon but I think it is now seen as futile to insist that a user retains all warnings given. This isn't consensus yet though. I believe there is a centralised discussion ongoing about it, though I don't know where. --Guinnog 15:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
You're welcome. If you find out more about it maybe you could let me know. --Guinnog 16:37, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Custom warning templates

You may want to consider not using those custom warning templates you've made. The way they're worded ("You will be sent to wiki-jail") turns vandalising into a game, which is not what we want. -- Steel 17:53, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

A single test4 is more than enough. Adding additional warnings after a final warning have undesirable effects like these, and by that point it's pretty clear that no amount of warnings are going to do anything. -- Steel 18:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I can see where you're coming from. At WP:AIV admins should check the time of the last vandalous edit and the time the test4 was given. That should be enough to figure out whether the vandal has stopped. Extra test4s or whatever aren't really necessary. -- Steel 18:10, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

non admin rollback and warning tools

With all the great work you do I thought I'd make like a lot easier for ya - so, I have added non admin rollback and warning tools for you. They really rock!

So, can you please clear your cache (hit CTRL-R) and then when you see some vandalism use the RED rollback link. This should rollback the edit but also open the vandals talk page (turn popups off if it doesnt) and, whats best is there you should see an extra tab at the top next to history and one press and they are warned! (you still get to choose the warning) - see if that works :) Let me know if you like! Glen 20:34, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

PS: If not your thing just say the word and Ill remove immediately... but that'll definitely not happen! :)' Enjoy!

User page vandalism reversion

Hey - just wanted to thank you for reverting the vandalism to my user page. It's the first vandalism it's received, so I must be getting noticed for my own reverting of vandalism! robwingfield (talk) 15:35, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

What's that template?

Hi. I see you tagged Bignobbob's user page with a "no attacks" template for the Hannah watts article. I generally use {{attack}} if I need to do that but the template you used looks more like what I want for somebody whose only edit is an atk page. Which template is the one you used, please? Tonywalton  | Talk 12:09, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

D'oh. That'd be {{attack-warn}}. Why didn't I think of that! I think I'll put a comment in the template giving its name, à la most of the tmplates, so one can tell what it was even after subst-ing. Thanks for the info. Tonywalton  | Talk

Civil War articles

Chris, take a look at User:Hlj/CWediting for the style guide the ACW Task Force uses for Civil War articles. I look forward to further contributions! Keep up the good work! Scott Mingus 01:43, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Chris, to get an article to A or FA status, there are several things that an editor can do, including determining the broad appeal of an article (narrow focus versus a wider topic that the masses might enjoy reading on the main page), using a wide range of resources and references, heavily footnoting, placing the subject in its historical context, editing out any grammar, composition or style issues, and asking for a peer review to help get suggestions. The Hunchback may be much too narrow a topic for an FA article, but could be elevated to A level with some effort. Scott Mingus 13:17, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you so much, Chris Kreider, for your support in my RfA, which passed on November 11, 2006, with a final tally of 82/0/2. Introduction

Hi! If you are coming here because I "reverted" the changes you made to an article then welcome! Either I made a mistake or you were just messing around. If I made a mistake, please let me know on my talk page, otherwise, consider signing up for an account and put the same effort you put into vandalism into enhancing Wikipedia! If you need help setting up an account, or want help on how to get started with editing wikipedia, just leave me a message on my discussion page! I promise I wont revert that(unless it is blatant vandalism). Just think, if every vandal became a valid contributor how much greater Wikipedia would be! Even if you don't want to register, feel free to contribute positively! If negative contributions continue, you are only wasting your time! There is an army of Wikipedians who will revert the changes! I have seen a lot and reverted thousands of vandalized articles. It doesn't phase me!

What's the point in that now every unregisterd user is going to feel that they have vandalized your user talk page area when just one person has. As for being a member you hardly get any benefits whatsoever you just get a user talk page and can edit just as non- registerd users can. 83.104.51.181 08:07, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Ernst Stavro Blofeld

In a dodgy eastern european accent: Thankyou number two (ha! your user is Chrislk 02!. I've been expecting you. Have a look at my user page to see a picture of my kitty, Mr Bigglesworth and my volcano home. Unfortunatley a photo graph of me Blofeld was not permitted - clearly wikipdia is guilty of embezzlement, a fraternity that strikes then weakens its victim by extortion. I bit you adieu Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:42, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

In an electronically distorted voice: My dear wikipedian. Two atomic bombs numbers 456 and 457 that were aboard NATO flight 259 are now in the possesion of SPECTRE. Unless your government pays a ransom of 100 billion dollars in gold bullion in a manner to be designated us, we will systematically annihilate and exterminate every major city in the United Kingdom and the United STates of America. Pleas signal acceptance of our terms by arranging for Big Ben to strike 7 times at 6 pm tomorrow. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:57, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Thankyou number two. My fuzzy bald head is becoming confused. Ah no! kitty. get down Mr Bigglesworth- no biting. Behave!. I sent the message of extortion to me number two!! Genuingly though thanks a lot mate its good to know someone appreciates my humour. There are far too many serious personalityless wikipedians on here. Cheers Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:02, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Please click List of James Bond henchmen in You Only Live Twice to see my henchmen. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:05, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

As James, Hi yeah it wasn't supposed to be the best article. I was just introducing you to my henchmen. Click List of James Bond henchmen and you can find coverage of every henhcman by film. List of James Bond henchmen in Doctor No is good as is List of James Bond henchmen in Live and Let Die. ALthough this has been done gradually my work on wikipedia is a bit more serious than this e.g Shalu Monastery, William Garwood etc!! Great fun though!! P.s I agree Goldfinger in my view is the second best villain in the entire series. It is certainly the best film -even though I wasn't in it! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:13, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Chris chris chrisy chris chris. You clearly do have an internet problem. Authoring an article on the USS Hunchback is one of the clearest signs. I suggest you stop, log off, unplug the computer, maybe even throw it away, and try to strike up a conversation with the nearest girl. It will be difficult at first, human contact, but please, just try. It is so much better than reading about girls on wikipedia. AND NO ONLINE DATING THAT WOULD ONLY DRAG YOU DEEPER INTO THIS HOLE.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.54.15.129 (talkcontribs).

I was first tempted to remove this as a personal attack. But, I really dont care and think it is kind of funny so, this is why it stays
On a random note, here is my response. "As i stated before, thank you for your concern with my personal life, most recently with my lack of human contact and needing to talk to a girl. I generally dont like to throw this information around but, to apease your concern, I do have a girlfriend. (Yes, she is real but you will have to take my word for it). Articles like the USS Hunchback are something to do that is not work related or even people related (some people, including myself, may have Introverted tendancies. Mormon mysticism

As one of the few independent votes, I ask you to reconsider your vote on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mormon mysticism (or maybe you can help me see how the article is not OR). Even though an article has extensive references it can still be original research if the article compiles those references in a way to express a new idea (see, for example, User:WHEELER/Classical definition of republic which had almost 70 footnotes, but was still deleted). This article brings together such independent ideas, and there has been no independent reporting on the topic, nor even on the online communities. At the very least that should be the threshold for inclusion. Thx in adv for listening. --Trödel 20:37, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Why vandalism?

Hi, you reverted my comment on the Dutch People article by allegiging it was vandalism? Please tellme what is wrong about my statement? It is a fact and, hence, the Dutch behaviour towards Germans in the 15th century appears indeed somehow ironic, does it not? Thx for your answer in advance! (194.9.5.12 16:10, 15 November 2006 (UTC))

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Unfortunatley, the wording is not that of an appropriate encylopedia article. There are many ironies in life. If you have a citation, or a valid source making that statement, then I would not have reverted it. If you have any more questions, let me know. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:13, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Thx for your prompt answer! Well, actually it is a fact that, in the 15th century, there existed no distinction between Dutch and Germans as the German Reich, at this time, was not a nation as we know it today but rather a religous conglomarate of various German tribes such as Bavarians, Frisians, etc. In so far, at this time, the Dutch could simply not say "We do not like Germans" as this notion did not exist. The may have said "I do not like Saxonians or Bavarians". However, at this time, the Dutch formed part of the German Reich and, hence, this fact appeared somehow ironic to me. Please refer to German History in order to verify what I have just written. Anyway, to be honest, I was a bit angry as well when implementing my comment as the one who recently extended the passage (=user Rex Germanus) appears to be a real German-hater (fyi: that is at least my impression). (194.9.5.10 16:25, 15 November 2006 (UTC))

Hi Chris, just some information for you. The anonymous IP-adress you're dealing with here is infact a German nationalist. His user name is User:Ulritz. He and I were recently involved in an Arbcom case. Removal of sourced information, manipulation and making personal attacks are his specialities.Be very careful when you deal with this person.Rex 17:27, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

That is realy ridiculous, I do not even know this Ulritz. As for the blocking of my IP which you has been initiated by User Rex Germanus alleging I was User Ulritz, please refer to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kilo-Lima/Archives/Archive_VI#please_unblock_user_194.9.5.12 (194.9.5.12 09:05, 16 November 2006 (UTC))

I do not appreciate the fighting and finger pointing on my user page. The fact is, the content added to the article was not encylopedic and I reverted it. I hold no grudges, I do not really care who did it, or who you are. I would appreciate it if you would stop using my user page as a forum to point fingers at other users. Thank you. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:39, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, that was not my intention! (194.9.5.10 16:04, 16 November 2006 (UTC))

Great job

Great job with the replacing page vandals. beating me to those reverts every time. I will stick to the more obscure vandalism. When the vandalism slows down, ill try and remeber to get ya another barnstar,. kepe up the great work. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:39, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but I just realized the most ridiculous thing... This isnt organized vandalism- every time someone blanks an entire page and puts some text in without an edit summary, MediaWiki is automatically appending that edit summary. Check out the history of User talk:Rory096. I logged out, blanked it, and it used that edit summary. --Rory096 16:47, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it's brand new, which is why it caught everyone off guard and made a lot of people think it was a vandalbot. You'd think the devs could give us some warning... --Rory096 16:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I've seen your stats, man! Honestly, I thought I was on here alot lately (and I have a wife and three kids who live... erm, sometimes yards away from me), but you take the biscuit (with the milk chocolate and caramel coating)! And it's all good quality work, too. Anyway, enough "hugging", we've got work to do! ;) Bubba hotep 20:55, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
your stats arent to bad your self. Do you use any vandal fighting tools? Like popups or JS? (I dont really know what it is but somebody just installed it for me and it works wonders!). Well, keep up the good work. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I use pop-ups for previewing and stuff, but JS for reverts and warnings. I still don't know what some of them do, but they are darned handy. Cuts down the work of fighting vandals by about 70%. I think there's a script out there for reporting them on the AIV page as well, but I haven't tried it yet. You still seem to beat me to the reverts sometimes, though, in spite of all the gadgets! Must be cos you is closer to the server, doh! ;) Bubba hotep 21:07, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
By the way, hope you don't mind, but I raided your userbox page and borrowed the layout for mine. Been meaning to do something with it for a while now! Bubba hotep 21:06, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing that out. I use a tool called vandalproof and sometimes it misses reverts. If you see a mistake, you are welcome to revert to the proper version yourself! If you need help doing this, let me know. Keep up the great work! Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 01:28, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Sorry about not signing (I was going fast myself). I had already reverted it. I have actually requested to use vandalproof. Do you like using it?--Farquaadhnchmn(Dungeon) 01:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
well, i actually use vandalproof 2. I am on the list for both though. It depends on what mood I am in on how much I like it. It is very autonomous, and easy big buttons labeled "NOT vandalism" and an array of buttons labeled vandal and what warnings you want to give. The thing is, i usually manually revert, look at the history then glance at the revert to make sure it looks good. I cant do it with VP. But, i think the mass amounts of vandalism that you do catch may make up for the small margin of tricky vandalism. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 01:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. --Farquaadhnchmn(Dungeon) 01:35, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Digital Opportunity Index (DOI) AfD

The "non-notable business" that you thought was behind the Digital Opportunity Index (DOI) article turns out to be the International Telecommunications Union, an agency of the UN, which is both notable and not a business. I've rewritten the article to make this more clear, and I've added information about the index to the ITU article, and I'm suggesting merge or keep. I invite you to reconsider your vote. cheers --Xtifr tälk 11:28, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

User:216.107.211.80

Redirect vandalism like the edits by this user are clearly malicious vandalism. I'm happy to explain the history if you don't know it. Don't worry about warning people who do 'vandalism on wheels' and just report them straight away. - Mgm|(talk) 13:06, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for the Support

I'd like to express my huge thanks to you, Chrislk02, for your support in my recent RfA, which closed with 100% support at 71/0/1. Needless to say, I am very suprised at the huge levels of support I've seen on my RfA, and at the fact that I only had give three answers, unlike many other nominees who have had many, many more questions! I'll be careful with my use of the tools, and invite you to tell me off if I do something wrong! Thanks, Martinp23 14:59, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your support!

A week ago I nominated myself, hoping to be able to help Wikipedia as an administrator as much as a WikiGnome. I am very glad many others shared my thoughts, including you. Thank you for your trust! Be sure I will use these tools to protect and prevent and not to harass or punish. Should you feel I am overreacting, pat me so that I can correct myself. Thanks again! Vandalism to Ascham School

Thanks for reverting. I'm currently watching the page, and I think theres active vandalism in progress right now. I may have to go soon, so it may be up to you to keep the vandalism off. Nwwaew(My talk page) 12:55, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Guess the job will be up to you! Too bad I "have" to go on vacation. If i "HAVE" to go to Florida then i guess I will! Keep up the great vandal fighting and thanks again for the starbar! It really gave me that sugar rush to beat them vandals back! Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:34, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Your template: up and down like a fiddler's elbow! I hope you're not that indecisive about how to get there otherwise you probably won't end up going! ;) Bubba hotep 20:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I officially leave tommorow. And, I leave work in about 15 minutes so i will put it up now so i dont forget before I leave. However, I cannot stop wikipediaing until the absolute last minute (wonder what my girlfriend would say if i cancelled my trip to see if so that i could spend time on Wikipeda. LOL) I'll be out in a few minutes off to the nice warn beaches! HOORAY! Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Blofeld

Ernst, you are an article creating machine! It seems every time i go on new page patrol your pages keep popping up! Good to see you continuing your quest of world domination through Wikipedia!Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:14, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey mate yeah hahahahaha cool! You see I am trying to dominate wikipedia now! Actually I am going slower than normal because I am trying to dig out an exact satellite locator map from www.maplandia.com amazing site you should check it out! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:16, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Actually I don't know whether you know but I have been getting a terrible amount of difficulty from User:Gene Nygaard who has ateempted to bully me to the point that I almost gave up on wikipedia. I didn't even want to log in because I know a disgusting message would be left for me and make me feel like crap. User markBA is also attempting to help the world with the work on wikipedia and he too is getting the same mistreatment from him. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:28, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Do not let him get to you. If he is being a bully, and you think he is doing it intentionally, try a humorous response. Read the first section on my talk page and how i responded to somebody making personal attacks. (needless to say, he stopped)! Whatever that dude does, done let him get to you and keep up the great work! Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

THanks mate I know that many other will agree with you. Basically I told him that he is rather pathetic son of a bitch that he would rather intentionally bully people rather than actually do something to help wikipedia. Any mesage I get now I will delete without reading! I haven't heard anything since. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Cessna Template

I just wanted to say great work on the Cessna template - it looks fantastic! Ahunt 16:08, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Naw there is too much complaining on Wikipedia - credit where credit is due! Ahunt 17:07, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

No problem, glad to help. I was a little concerned you'd be upset about the removal of the subvariants, but I think it makes for a cleaner template. With the Beechcraft one you just added, if you could try to keep it above the aviation footer (place it in the {{aircontent}} |see also= section), that would help keep the format consistent and ensure that stub tags wound up at the very bottom. ericg 20:25, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Vacation

Am I a wikipediaholic if i just paid way too much money to check my wikipedia at the airport while waiting for a flight? I thought so! Soon, I will REALLY be in Florida! and away from wikipedia (Prob not for too long though). lol. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:07, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Erm, let me just check the Wikiholic test... hmmm, not a criteria for that, but if there was, it has to be worth at least 7917 points! Bubba hotep 19:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Unless it was changed recently, i added it to the test. I figure that is a sign of a true wikiholic and therefore belonged on the test! I am yet at another airport waiting for a connecting flight to Florida! So, i got a few hours here to mess around on Wikipedia. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:43, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I didn't actually check to be honest. I just assumed it wasn't on the list, but hey! it's a crazy list, so anything goes I suppose! Anyway, you being away means I might have a chance to catch up on your edit count which grows exponentially every day - I doubt it though. You could probably fit in another thou or two in the lounge. How are the cocktails and prawn sandwiches? ;) Bubba hotep 21:46, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Havent checked, would require me to stand up and go somewhere other than where I am and I am feeling lazy right now. Ill check em out in a while. Yea, my edit count does grow quickly but you have a pretty good one too! Keep up the good work and I am sure that I will come back to find that you have taken over Wikipedia! - Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:53, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Edit Count

Nice looking edit count. almost double last months! Keep up the good work! (I am back from vacation and mine is growing quickly as I have started building aircraft templates and categorizing aircraft!) Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 15:47, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm actually taking a break from VP and NPP so the count will slow down for a while. Thought I'd do some wikify work - it is difficult as a lot of the stuff (on here from July, somewhat untouched) would have been DBd or AfDd by now if I had seen it first! Welcome back. :) Bubba hotep 15:50, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Yea, I feel ya on the break from VP and NPP, it gets a little depressing after a while. I used to wikify alot but now, I just casually do it. If I run across a page in need of wikification, I go ahead and do it if I can or nominate it for something. Thanks for the welcome back! (although I am already ready to be back in Florida). Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 15:58, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

I think of WIKIFY as a sort of "community service" really. Getting back to the creative roots, so to speak. Think I'll be back on the VP soon though. I'll take any part of the US at the moment when you consider what I've got here at the moment: 13 degrees and clouds covering clouds. And it's dark already... :( Bubba hotep 16:02, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

what...?

is all this about?! Check the contribs. Bubba hotep 16:00, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Getting your own "article" was a nice touch, n'est pas?! :) User reported, anyhow. Bubba hotep 16:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
He's blocked now. But the funny thing is: I had only been doing vandal patrol for a grand total of seventeen minutes today when that turned up. Talk about timing! Haha. Bubba hotep 16:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Anon IP vandal

Chris - I saw you blocked this anon IP here and was hoping you could offer some assistance because he's at it again already. I am also curious about getting involved in Vandal patrolling apart from reverting edits and referring IP vandals to admins. What can I do? Inoculatedcities 20:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I did not actually block that vandal. I warned them with warnings templates by typing {{subst:test1-n|articlename}} through {{subst:test4-n|articlename}}. Once they have recieved a final warning and continue to vandalize, you then report them on the WP:AIV page by adding {{IPvandal|ipaddresshere}} to the list. an admin will eventually get to them and block them! Hope this helped. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Thanks for your good work. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:34, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

hey, Chris. I've been thinking, Would you like yo be an administrator? If you do, I'll nominate you. just wondering.Grayson d. k. 21:23, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Maybe Gdk411 would like to co-nominate? Bubba hotep 22:42, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I will be adding some examples to it as well, so let me know before you post it to the RfA page! Bubba hotep 22:43, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I will hold off the editing so you can get your tu'ppeneth in! I'm just probing your contribs, cos that's what everyone else will do! Huh, looks like I got a new project for a while. :) Bubba hotep 23:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to put it up in a minute. I can always add to it after anyway. And, hey, good luck. I have every confidence, but if it doesn't work out, remember – it's not the end of the world! Bubba hotep 23:47, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm off to bed now. Catch up on the morrow. Bubba hotep 00:17, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I obviously wasn't the best person to nominate you, but hey! It's 5/5/6 at present and I'm ever the optimist, but you need to do what's best for you. But most of all, carry on doing what you are doing and you will be there sooner or later anyway. Off for some reflection for a while. Bubba hotep 07:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

9/8/9 as of the time of this message. By no means bad and with some really good comments and pointers coming through. I really don't understand the Time vs time issue – a person can make nearly 8k edits in two months time and be deemed less experienced than somone who does half that in three times as much Time. It doesn't figure. I think the other points of opposition are minor as well. Even admins have made errors in judgement, it feels unfair to pick you up on that even after you have addressed the issue. Anyway, I hope you see it through, new !votes coming through hourly, and a fully completed RfA would look good in the event of you having to go through a second in a few months Time. My opinions, as always, from nominator to nominee. Bubba hotep 21:19, 29 November 2006 (UTC) Forgot to say, people maybe haven't taken into consideration the quality of your other edits in the two months previous to the current two months in which you seem to have exploded! If you reply, just do it here and I will keep an eye out. :) Bubba hotep 21:23, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I can't give you a count as of this morning because it seems to have gone "wonky"! Anyway, somebody has made the comment that "since you got pop-ups you stop writing articles" – it seems that you can't win either way, and maybe they need to look a bit closer (e.g. your sandbox(es)). I also think Newyorkbrad sums this up pretty well in the comment he made on another RfA currently running, you may have seen it but if not here it is. I am quite impressed by that fellow, not because he !voted for you, but because he seems to have a level head and is what is good about wikipedia. And there are a few more out there who are the same as well. I don't know what you think, but maybe undergoing an editor review between the closing of this RfA (providing it is unsuccessful, I still remain optimistic) and the beginning of your next will help immensely as you go along. However, I feel that you are intelligent enough to correct your own "mistakes" or to articulately back them up, so you may feel this is an unnecessary venture. Either way, I will reiterate: you will make it. Bubba hotep 08:52, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I didn't actually realise you had already had an editor review. Still, another, hopefully with more input from others wouldn't go amiss, eh? Hope you are well. :) Bubba hotep 16:44, 30 November 2006 (UTC) Thanks for your faith in me with the admin nomination. However, if i get several more oppose votes, I will more than likley withdraw the nomination if it is possible and you do not have a problem with that! I will hopefully be renominated in several months after I have improved other areas of my Wiki Life. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 00:53, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Really man, I am flattered that you nominated me! Even though it probably wont suceed, I am not the kind of person who quits. It just gives me a drive to become a better Wikipedian1 I hope to be nominated again in the upcoming months after I can prove that I am as good Wikipedian. I think that some people are looking too hard for problems. We are all human, we all make mistakes, and I would like to think that my mistake to good edit ratio is extremely small (mistakes/good edits). Thanks again for your faith in me! It is much appreciated (especially you defending me against czrussian! Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 01:13, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Yep, I have no doubt in a couple of months I should have no problem making it! I was nominated a little earlier than I was planning on but I was not going to say no! I am all for constructive criticism (however, i feel some of the criticism is far from constructive)! I will use it to grow though. I am shocked i am over 5k edits for this month alone. Do you think it is possibe to hit 10k in a month? (I am not too much of an overachiever or anything[can you sense the sarcasm?]) - Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:51, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

10k in a month? Maybe! But that would have to include 6k new articles (80 of them FAs, 120 GAs) and a partridge in a pear tree! My thoughts on the criticism... can wait until after... or maybe never! Glad to see you're taking it well. And I will say again - it ain't over yet! :) Bubba hotep 16:56, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Cessna 165.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cessna 165.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - crz crztalk 00:00, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

While originially believing fair use, and considering WP:FU before uploading the image, further research has showed that my originial assumption of the first fair use criterion, although made in good faith, did not apply. I have added a speedy deletion tag to this image and removed it from the article it was intended to supplement. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 00:47, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

perfect pangram verification

yes, I can provide evidence of my creation of the following perfect pangram.

Mr. Jock, TV quiz PhD, bags few lynx.

I created this perfect pangram over the course of three days in 2001. I submitted it to fun-with-words.com with my information to be credited. Over the course of the folowing months, I repeatedly searched the web for my pangram and didn't see my contribution posted. Eventually I forgot about it and moved on. Two days ago, one of my associates began a discussion with me about his recent love for pangrams. In the course of our discussion, I told him about the one that I had created many years ago and recited it. It was at that time that he informed me that he had seen what I had recited on the fun-with-words website and on wikipedia. I asked him if I was credited and he said no. Therfore, I am adding a proper credit to wikipedia. I retained my original hand written notes working out my processes in creating the pangram, and am searching my archived mail backup for the original emails regarding my submission. In fact, I actually submitted the pangram twice, as almost immediately following the original submission (the one that is listed in Wikipedia) I had submitted a slightly rearranged version of "TV quiz jock Mr. PHD, bags few lynx". For some reason this version does not appear anywhere. As such, I am also interested in changing the Pangram itself to this variation, but having never edited wikipedia before, and having only just yesterday realized my perfect pangram has been adopted by the larger community, felt at the time, that such a major change may be perceived as overt.

please feel free to contact me directly.

The best way to verify this would be to get fun-with-words.com to verify it; but please put this verification on either Talk:Pangram or in the reference section of Pangram.

Your RfA

Hi Chris,

I thought I'd drop you a personal note about your RfA. Although it may seem like I am being very critical of you, I actually believe you're going to make a fine and effective admin in the near future. I really appreciate your work on Wikipedia. I have every confidence that I will be supporting your next RfA in a couple of months and that you'll pass on the second try. Please don't be discouraged, I think you just need a little more experience and you will soon be joining the cabal admin ranks. Best, Gwernol 18:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem at all. Ping me in a couple of months when you feel you are ready to try again. I'd be happy to give you feedback on your progress (I've done this for a few other editors) and I'd be interested in nominating you myself on the second go around. Best, Gwernol 19:03, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the Barnstar, it certainly seems that I've found my niche in Wikipedia at the DYK section. People have really made a great effort to be friendly there. I guess it might be time to add a barnstar section to my userpage, it's kinda sad seeing em linger in obscurity on the DYK subpage of my user talk. GeeJo (t)(c) • 00:08, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On 3 December 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Cessna 165, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

-- tariqabjotu 00:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

You are correct.

Interrogating people who are against your RFA is (in my opinion, but others do seem to agree with me) bad form. And I think the word you're looking for may be rebut, rebuke, or rebuff. Nothing personal. I'm sure you can understand that being hostile in your RFA is a good way to be perceived as somebody who is typically hostile. As the anon user above said (admittedly inappropriately), you needn't take things so personally. ... aa:talk 01:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Antivandalbot

Do you know if antivandalbot is down today? I am beating it to reverts that I NEVER beat it too. And come to think of it, I dont remeber seeing any reverts by it. I have seen a martinbot reverting though. hmmm, strange -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 14:45, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I have seen Martinbot. I've beaten that one to a few, too. Stranger and yet, stranger. I'm also writing some more articles at the moment - because I want to have my cake and eat it! :) Bubba hotep 14:47, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
I have started taking a liking more to creating articles and less on vandalism fighting. I have gotten some good magazines and I read through them, find good content and either create an article or added content and citations to existing articles. It is very fufilling so far (as long as I dont run out of sources). Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:22, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Do people realise that creating articles from scratch takes time and effort? Do they also realise that one or two article creation/fiddling edits = about 40 or 50 vandalism reverts, time-wise? I've created 139 articles (I know, because I keep a running tally!) and they take Time. Anyway, I'm done with being aggrieved! Onwards, and, inevitably, upwards! :) Bubba hotep 16:28, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Re, DYK - ah, no stubs – unfortunately, a lot of mine start as stubs and stay that way either until I get home (no firewall restricting the sites I can reach) or until I buy the album! (for that is what most of the 139 are, album articles). Nevertheless, I will keep it in mind and thanks for the suggestion. Bubba hotep 16:55, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh yeah, forgot to say - a lot of album articles stay as stubs because... well, I don't know why actually. People seem to have a funny idea of what de-stubs a music-related article. Anyways... Bubba hotep 17:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Yea, it usually starts happening after about 20-30 minutes on patrol. The regular suspects show up in different color links on the recent changes so it is easier to catch them after warning them. Blofeld

Of course number 1.5. But I swear actor Charles Gray who played me was an imposter. I am a bald bastard.

AH you have seen my latest conquest for world domination!

Seriously now. This would be the ultimate library for all languages on the planet. It could even provide knowledge of local dialects etc. Why pay hundreds of dollars for another website with limited languages or expensive language leanring packages when this new project could teach every language fluently for free. I would hope it would grow like its sister Wikipedia with millions of words. English wikipedia has memebrs from over a hundred countries each could contrinute gradaully with their knowledge of thier own language and it would grow at an accelarating rate like wikiepdia. I mean if you search the enitre world now on google for example Learning Hungarian there is really no free easy to learn fluent source in English to achieve this. THis is vast human knowledge missing from the world. One giant Encylopedia of Languages that is free Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I beleive this new project I have devised is massive and could become world renowned if allowed to develop like Wikipedia. It could also have translation technology so all articles missing from english wikipedia could be translated instantly. A very important tool. But in the end I anticipate it could create some new 250 webistes of WikiLanguages with each language teaching world languages in their particular language. E.g Slovak wikipedia would have its own Slovak version of WIkiLanguages and would attempt to teach the other 250 languages in the Slovak languageErnst Stavro Blofeld 14:11, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

MERRY CHRISTMAS NUMBER 1.5. That is a coincidence as I am going to watch on her majesty's Later. Sir Hilary Bray. Oh hillie. Donald Pleasance should only be the actor to portray me. Telly Salvalas looks too much like a cross between Joe Satriani and Vin Diesel and is too gruff for playng me. The Bond films I always watch at Christmas are On her Majesty's and For Your Eyes Only and the Living Daylights as they are mostly based in the snow which I find great for the season. I always watch Goldfinger because of its sheer greatness. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:49, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes it is my favourite. But Telly Salvalas really is a cross between Joe Satriani and Vin Diesel!!Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:53, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Can you help me to translate an article?

Hi chirislk02! My name is Santiago, but my name in wikipedia is Dutch. I work on the spanish wikipedia, so excuse me if my english isn't very good. Very technical question

Hey, Chris, very technical question here. I would guess it is not virginian. I looked up list of people from virginia and the category associated with it is Category:People from Virginia, so i would assume some play off of that? Happy holidays. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:58, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Bond

Have a think about it. Whcih Bond film do you regard as the most stylish? Your answer should incorporate locations, furnishings, dress, dialogue, actors, soundtracks . I know which is the most stylish without a doubt. I'll give you a clue it was in the 1980s. You should be able to guess it by eliminating the others because they clearly are not stylish enough.

In my view the most beautiful bond girl is Ursula Andress (Dr No), Dominique Duval in Thunderball comes close, the cutest, Britt Ekland (Golden Gun) but the Bond girl you would most want to shag . IN my view the unofficial bond girl in never Say Never Again Fatima Blush - she is sexy as hell!!!!! Naomi from the Spy who loved me is pretty do able to. The most animalistic has to be Xenia Onatopp without a doubt. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:13, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Halle Berry in Die Another Day yes. Ursula will always be the most beautiful but ther eis something about Fatima Blush that is incredibly sexy. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:19, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't even think Fatima's particuarly good looking but she is one of those women who you know would an absolute fox in bed. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:21, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

You guessed absolutely right. She is minging! Her voice is enough to put me off but I hate women with short hair. I don't think the Chinese bond girl from Tomorrow Never Fies is attractive either (she is too masculine, her featires too hard) and I find some oriental women very attractive. Keep thinking about the film. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:26, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

You do agree about Fatima Blush then. She is an animal!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:27, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

If you look at Wai Lin now that picture she looks fit but if you watch the film she does look quite rough Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:29, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

You guessed correct again!!! Everything from the music soundtrack with the full orchestra , the suave white tuxedos the Monsoon Palace with the extravagant staircase to the extravagant island of Octopussy and the hoards of beautiful women. Kristina Wayborn adds a touch of class. Then ther eis the faberge egg and the posh Sotherby's auction. Then off course there is the intro with the 12 foot plane how stylish is that? Yes definately the most stylish bond film ever. Golfinger is pretty stylish but I am talking about high living and formality. Do you agree?Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:36, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Kamal Khan is one of the suavest actors ever. You could imagine that he would only ever eat caviar and drink the finest wines! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:38, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Also the car driven by Kamal Khan similar to that of Golfinger's. Yes I have seen it. However any idea of what the greatest home is of a bond villain. It is not immediately obvious. Also any idea's of the worst bond film? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:41, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I have to say I rather like the idea of License to Kill but I feel the movie could have been made much much better with some different actors and a slight altering of some scenes.. Franz Sanchez though was great as the villain and extrmeely believable I wouldn't chnage him. He looks exactly what you would imagine a latin america drug baron to look like! Amigo. I hated Milton Krest and Kellifer and some of the others.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:46, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Best location without a doubt. I have visited it back in 1998. It is near Phuket in Thailand]]. However I don't think an ugly inside solar energy factory quite cuts the mustard however useful for the grandest house.

ALthough I would much rather live at Scaramanga's The grandest residence belongs to Hugo Drax his multi-billion dollar French chateaux. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:51, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Worst Bond film? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:54, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes but as I said I wouldn't want to live in Drax's house - too big and cold. I aske the grandest house! Two greatest bond sets. This official. The giant submarine massive ship of Karl Stromberg huge huge set and of course my own home in the volcano in You Only Live Twice. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:59, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I was about to see ya too. ALl the best Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:02, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Splitting Category:American films

Your box looks cool man, but there is no reference to me and for world domination!Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:51, 27 December 2006 (UTC) What do you think about this idea:

I beleive that every American film should be categorized as American films but as there are so many tens of thousands how about the category is split by decade.

E.g my The Lawless Nineties would become Category:American films of the 1930s.

Category:American films would be neatly organized by decade rather than the giant giant main category. It could look like this:

  • Category:American films of the 1890s
  • Category:American films of the 1900s.
  • Category:American films of the 1910s.
  • Category:American films of the 1920s.
  • Category:American films of the 1930s.
  • Category:American films of the 1940s.
  • Category:American films of the 1950s.

etc What do you think? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:40, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for information, I will take Afd under advisement. Currently I'm going to mark Adam alsing as a stub and keep an eye on it. ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 16:27, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Bell Green, Sainsbury's

I also agree with its deletion. If there's a better way to express that on the deletion template etc. please let me know. Mark83 16:03, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

I also agree, but thought a third ProD may have been slightly excessive! I think what you put on the template will suffice - it will probably end up at AfD anyway if it is contested within a week. Sorry to butt in there, anyway. :) Bubba hotep 16:20, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Fulton's Crab House Revert not vandalism

Hey, I see you reverted [2] Fulton's Crab House edits I made. I gave a reason that was not intended to be vandalistic (if there is such a word) yet you reverted it and put a warning up on my page. So what did I do that caused you to revert? 12.34.246.35 20:07, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

My reply on the user talk page that I copied here for references
Hey! I am sorry if it was offensive that I reverted the changes. An important part of an wikipedia article is the assertion of notability. Being the recipient of multiple awards, whether local, or on a broader sense may help make that assertion. Without that section, the article may be about a non-notable reataurant and be deleted! Hope this helped. If you have any more questions please let me know! Thanks. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Ok thanks, that explanation would've been better then calling my edit vandalism though. I see your point. I took those out because there wasn't much to the article to begin with and the large list of awards made it seem very one-sided. I will leave them on. 12.34.246.35 20:16, 28 December 2006 (UTC) manually changed ip because it will keep changing.

I am sorry that it called it vandalism. I will go mroe careful in the future. I use a utility that makes reversions of mistakes and any other edits that need to be taken back to a previous version much easier. It automatically labels it as vandalism and i apolagize that it did! Your contributions are much appreciated. Please feel free to continue to contribute. If you have any other questions or concerns, I will be glad to help you with them! Just let me know. By the way, if you sign up for an account, which is really simple to do, you wont have to worry about the ip stuff. If you sign up for an account leave me a shout out on my talk page and I will be glad to help ya around. Thanks! -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:18, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Wolseley

Anyway, what of Wolseley? I'm intrigued now... Bubba hotep 20:45, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Umakant Sharma

Hi, No problem - you are quite right I failed to notice that you, and not the original autor, had removed the tag - my apologies. Still not at all sure about notability of this individual though! Springnuts 23:45, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, and I note that you are partially on Wikibreak. I have now nominated this article for deletion. Springnuts 06:25, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

AL Farik Mahmoud Shokry

I took your advice and submitted the article for AfD after you removed the prod tag. I just wanted to let you know so that you could contribute to the discussion linked from the article. The article in its most recently improved revision is close to what I would consider a good stub article and worth closing the AfD early to keep the article for further work. I would appreciate any information you could provide to the article and the AfD discussion. Thanks. ju66l3r 02:49, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Amazon insects

You have suggested that this article be merged into Amazon Rainforest, but you have provided no rational. Please explain at Talk:Amazon Rainforest why this is a good idea.-gadfium 08:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

AL Farik Mahmoud Shokry

You added a reference at AL Farik Mahmoud Shokry to the Egyption Military Museum. What specific information did you get from them and how? There is a deletion discussion going on; it would be helpful to be able to clarify your source.

Thanks.
