A pile of saffron threads (each about 20 mm in length) from Iran. Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of the saffron crocus and is among the world's costliest spices by weight. In Western countries, the average retail price is $2200/€1550/£1100 per kilogram ($1,000/€700/£500 per pound). Besides its use as a seasoning, it has also used in its history as fragrance, dye, and medicine. Photo credit: Rainer Zenz |
I am Chris Barna. I am a teenager living in San Diego, California. I have used wikipedia for quite a while but only started editing recently. I maintain a weblog at blog.unbrain.net. I currently attend High Tech High International as a sophomore.
I am very interested in computers, particularly Linux and Macintosh. I also like photography, surfing, sailing, and writing. I read an incredible amount of news for somebody my age and I would like to be a journalist when I get out of school.
