Talk:Christine Lovatt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There are ample media and profile stories written about Christine Lovatt and Lovatts Publications, in order for the notability to at least reach the minimum threshold.
In the Wikipedia:Notability(people) inclusion guidelines, she satisfies at least two of the criterion:
1. The person has been a primary subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the person (articles with her as the primary subject in The Daily Telegraph (Australia), The Herald Weekender, The Australian, Media Week, The Australian Financial Review, and more).
2. The person made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field (that of crosswords and puzzles)

Google search
If you search for crosswords, her website comes up 3rd.
If you search for sudoku, her website comes up 6th
If you search for puzzle magazines her website comes up 1st and 2nd
If you search for addoku her website comes up 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th
This is a good indication to the notability of Christine Lovatt59.154.156.198 00:27, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
While the above might merit an entry on Wikipedia, it surely can't merit the level of biographical detail given in the article as it stands. (It might also be worth pointing out that the Google results given above are only valid for Google Australia; for "crosswords", the Lovatts site comes up 70th on Google UK and 44th on Google USA.) — Brunellus 09:21, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Seems to me that "the English language wikipedia" should fairly represent notable people from from all English-speaking countries. Is Christine Lovatt's contribution to crosswords in her native country comparable to, say, Araucaria's in the UK? 77.97.232.101 15:57, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
The above said, the article as it currently stands needs NPOV corrections; presently it reads like publicity copy rather than encyclopaedic biography. A cursory google search on cryptic tutorial yields a plethora of results, so the claim that hers is 'the only online' tutorial is easily invalidated. So I think the article should stay with substantial cuts. 77.97.232.101 10:17, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
As a non-Australian, I hesitate to assess CL's contribution to crosswords there, but she appears to be a major player in that country. I agree with the "keep with substantial cuts" assessment - aprt from the fact that she came to Australia from Britain and works on puzzle publications with her husband, the family and personal career stuff is irrelevant.
