Chrysomya, is an Old World blow fly genus which contains at least one species known as a "screw-worm fly" (Chrysomya bezziana). There is much historical confusion surrounding the spelling of the genus name, and it often appears incorrectly spelled as Chrysomyia (Chrysomyia is a junior synonym of the genus Microchrysa in the family Stratiomyidae, a completely unrelated fly family).
