"Chrysalis" is the final episode of the first season of the science fiction television series Babylon 5. It first aired in the United Kingdom on October 3, 1994, and in the United States on October 26.

[edit] Plot synopsis
Garibaldi uncovers a plot to assassinate the Earth Alliance President, but is critically injured before he can stop the plan from being carried out. Ambassador Delenn begins a mysterious transformation. There is a conflict between the Narn and the Centauri over the Narn outpost in Quadrant 37. It is completely destroyed. The act is carried out by the Shadows. Commander Sinclair decides to plan on getting married to Catherine Sakai in the future. He asks Garibaldi to be his best man while Ivanova is asked to be the maid of honor.

This is the final episode of the first series, so ends with a number of questions hanging.
- Delenn starts to undergo a transformation.
- There is a plot to kill President Luis Santiago.
- The Shadows attack a Narn outpost on behalf of Londo Mollari.
- It is evident Morden has some invisible masters/helpers.
- Garibaldi's aide has attempted to kill him to keep the assassination plot secret.
- Sinclair has proposed marriage to Catherine Sakai.

- The episode was shot as number 112 in the series in order to allow enough time for the required extensive CGI effects to be finished.
- This episode marked the last appearance of Sinclair as a regular character.
- The image of President Santiago that appears in an ISN broadcast is actually Babylon 5 executive producer Douglas Netter, long-time creative partner of B5 creator J. Michael Straczynski, who jokes in the episode's DVD commentary that "… the first chance I had to kill him, I took it." [1]
- Vice President Clark's presidential swearing-in aboard EarthForce Two is an intentional homage to U.S. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson's own ceremony aboard a plane, televised to the nation, immediately after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on 1963-11-22. (See comparison images at right.) According to JMS, it was coincidentally shot on the anniversary of Kennedy's death. [1]
