Chronicles, 1967-1992

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chronicles, 1967-1992 is a compilation album sampling the genius and musicality of Randy California and Ed Cassidy throughout most of their years with Spirit. In addition to Randy's world-class virtuosity on electric and acoustic guitar, the music weaves wonderful messages for living into the rawness and subtleness of what can best be described as world-beat classic rock infused with modern jazz, blues/folk, and country nuances.

Among the standouts here are an outstanding live performance of "Fresh Garbage", and an alternate version of "Elijah" (both tunes from their first album). "Genetic Dreams" is one of their best instrumentals (from a band that was in a class by itself when it came to instrumentals), "Salvation" (which really rocks!), and "Kokomo" (which would also find its way onto the "Blues from the Soul" CD).
