Christy (released in 1967) is a novel by Christian author Catherine Marshall set at the fictional Appalachian village of Cutter Gap, Tennessee, in 1912. The novel was inspired by the story of her own mother's journey to the mountains to teach the impoverished children of Appalachia.
The fictional village of Cutter Gap is believed to be based on the community of Del Rio in Cocke County, Tennessee. Local landmarks associated with the story are marked for visitors, including the site of the Ebenezer Mission in the smaller nearby community of Chapel Hollow.
Christy was made into a television series in 1994.
