Christos Bourbos (Greek: Χρήστος Μπούρμπος) is Greek football player .He is currently on loan from AEK Athens FC to Kerkyra FC, a newly promoted team to Super League.

[edit] The move to AEK Athens FC

While playing in Giannena (2001 - 2004), Bourbos position was Striker. However, after his move to AEK Athens, Fernando Santos (having no Right Defender) wanted to make him a modern Full (like Roberto Carlos and Cafu). As a result, in one of his latest interviews, he stated that his natural position is that of the right back.

In his first season in AEK Athens, he was an indispensable member of the club (as well in Greece under 21), contributing with many assists. An injury in 2005, deprived him from playing in the starting 11, hence in season 2005/2006 having just 2 appearances (in the Greek Cup).

[edit] Characteristics

Bourbos is well-known for his long-range passes, powerful right-foot shots. He is not physically strong (1.80 m , 80 kg)

In 2006-2007, Llorenç Serra Ferrer (the new coach of AEK Athens), having 2 other Right Defenders (Nikolaos Georgeas and Martin Albano Pautasso) proposed him a loan move, at first, to Niki Volou (a Beta Ethniki team). However, Bourbos refused. Just a few hours before the transfer window deadline, Kerkyra FC mande an offer for Bourbos' loan, which included his annual wage in AEK Athens (60.000€)

He has 46 appearances as a professional footballer, scoring 4 goals.
