Psionics - they were the next step in human evolution, gifted with the powers to receive, send or act as conveyors of telepathic messages.
When psionic Mars Lea boarded the starship Alchemon to join its polanetary exploration team, she began receiving ominous psionic messages from an unknown source. Then the team discovered an ancient alien life form, and against Mars Lea's instincts, it was taken aboard the starship in a sealed containment unit... and what was supposed to be a triumphant journey home began.
But the journey soon became a living nightmare as the ships systems inexplicably malfunctioned, starting the crew's descent into psionic madness. The captain, desperate to find and halt the mysterious enemy destroying his ship, was willing to use any defenses, including the sentinels, ruthless, fail-safe devices which would sacrifice anything, even the crew, to keep the ship alive!
