Christof Romuald is the main character of the Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption computer game.
According to the game manual, Christof was born in the French village of St. Claire. When he was 16 years old, he killed a wild boar that had entered his village. He was hailed as a hero by the members of the village. After this event, he decided to join the Crusades. He became a member of the Crusader group, "the Swordbrethren". In 1141, he was wounded by an arrow during a crusade against the pagan tribes of Moravia. He was taken to a convent in Prague to recover, where he was nursed back to health by a nun named Anezka.
When a pair of monsters called "the Szlachta" raided the convent, Christof rose from his bed and slew the monsters. Christof was informed that the monsters were coming from the silver mines to the east. Upon learning this, Christof decided to cleanse the mines of evil. He managed to do so, and even killed a powerful vampire that had been residing in the mines. Unfortunately, Christof's brave actions made him the target of Prague's vampires, and he was turned into a vampire by Ecaterina the Wise, leader of the Brujah vampire clan.
Christof was then unwillingly engaged in the great war between the vampire clans. Upon hearing the news that Anezka was missing, he went on a series of adventures to rescue her, scouring the city for any clues, which eventually lead him into a Tremere chantry in Vienna. Duped into killing a Lasombra vampire, he is captured during the process. He escapes the Teutonic Knights' dungeon, meanwhile discovering that the Teutonic Knights were Tremere Ghouls.
After his escape, Christof stormed das Haus de Hexe, the main fortress of the Tremere. Penetrating the defenses he unconvered more information of Anezka's fate. The Tzimisce in Vysehrad Castle have turned her into a Ghoul. Trying to rescue her, he is crushed beneath the collapsing castle and falls into torpor.
Approximately 800 years later, he is awakened after an archaelogical dig uncovers his body. He struggles to understand the Modern Era, and after several adventures he engages a powerful vampire named Vukodlak in New York City in the first minutes of the year 2000. Depending on the roleplay dialogue options the player takes in the game, he resolves this conflict in one of three ways. If the player maintains a high humanity score, Christof confronts Vukodlak but is cast into the bowels of the Cathedral of Flesh and learns of Anezka's actions to delay the ancient vampire's resurrection during the 800 years he lay in torpor. He then climbs back up to the surface and defeats Vukodlak completely. Anezka, who had stayed alive those 800 years by being fed Vukodlak's blood, is redeemed in Christof's eyes and he Embraces her, ending the tale happily, at least for now. If the player maintains a medium humanity score, he is given the option to submit to Vukodlak's rule and accepts. Vukodlak feeds Christof with his blood, enacting a blood bond onto him and his first command to his new thrall is to kill Anezka, claiming that it is the sweetest revenge he can think of against the crusader. If the player maintains a low humanity score, Christof savagely attacks Vukodlak and diablerizes him, and then drinks Anezka's blood in the cut scene, killing her as well. Saying loudly that Ecaterina should get ready for his coming, he implies that he will most likely try to overtake and become the leader of Brujah by force, or simply slay them.
Christof Romuald also makes a cameo appearance in the White Wolf's Vampire: the Masquerade Brujah clan novel as part of a modern day vampire coterie commanded by the Brujah archon Theo Bell.
