Irish born but resident in London since 1987, Christine Tobin has established a reputation as a creative and original singer. With influences that extend from Billie Holliday and Betty Carter through to Cassandra Wilson and Joni Mitchell.

[edit] Career
Following studies at the Guildhall School of Music, Christine became a member of the band Lammas, led by saxophonist Tim Garland and guitarist/poet Don Paterson. In the mean time, she developed her own band with pianist Huw Warren, bassist Steve Watts and drummer Roy Dodds recording the first of six albums on the Babel Label in 1995. As time has gone on, she has forged a strong writing, performing and personal bond with guitarist Phil Robson. Her strong affinity with jazz has placed her in an intriguing position which straddles the creativity and improvisatory elements of jazz with a strong originality of composition and lyrical skills. Her album sleeves are usually designed by Gee Vaucher and she has also worked with other members of Last Amendment including Penny Rimbaud.

She also has skill as a promoter, running for just over a year in 2005, a club at the Progress Bar in Tufnell Park and as a director of the Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston.
